Pink Sister: Modkid patterns rule for kids

16 Nov

PinkSister shop: ModKid pattern made in vintage French cotton

Modkid are great because their designs are delightful and practical, easy to make up, perfectly suited to the suggested fabric, the photography really puts across how the style will look and how it can be adapted, the pattern is printed on proper paper and is really durable… I’m soon to try their jersey patterns. I’ve not done much with knitted stretchy fabrics but trust ModKid to get me through! Look out for lots of jersey stripes in the shop soon… The Cloth House, Soho, has a great pile of wonderful sale fabric at £2/m.

Here’s my list of preferred kid patterns and pattern books:
Amy Butler
Oliver + S
Favourite things
Pink Fig
Hot Scott (for more boy patterns)
Dear My Kids on etsy

For vintage patterns, etsy and eBay. It does take some imagination to the the potential in some vintage patterns and to appreciate how they might work in different fabrics and how they can be adapted. But the designs can come out so beautifully.

I often cut round our clothes and friends’ to get new patterns.
